Juror’s Statement: “It’s both an honor and pleasure to serve as juror for The Indiana Artists Club annual show. I celebrate all of the artists who put their work forward for consideration.
I look forward to seeing the rich milieu of styles, mediums, and expertise evident in the artists of Indiana.
As an artist and teacher for many years, I’ve worked in multiple mediums: drawing, acrylic, oils, photography, printmaking, watercolor, egg tempera, ceramics, stained glass, and sculpture. So what is it that I look for in an award-winning piece? The commonalities across all mediums are creativity, visual interest, technical expertise, good design, and originality – a new, unique way of depicting your world. I’m looking for pieces that evoke an emotional response, that demonstrate mastery of light, color, value, and an ineffable ‘something’ that draws me into your art.”
